Nets rally late to edge Warriors

Mar 31, 2012 - 5:35 AM Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Gerald Green delivered the go-ahead basket in the final minute and Deron Williams helped the Nets rally from a 19-point third quarter deficit to post a 102-100 win over the Golden State Warriors.

Williams had 20 assists, one off a career-high, as New Jersey erased a 14- point hole early in the fourth to post back-to-back victories for the first time since March 7-9.

"Our guys just persevered. We fought. Nobody really panicked," Nets coach Avery Johnson said.

Gerald Wallace totaled 24 points, 18 rebounds and six steals, and his lone block of the night came on Charles Jenkins in the waning seconds to help the Nets end a six-game road skid against the Warriors.

Kris Humphries and Green each totaled 20 points for the Nets.

David Lee posted 27 points, while Jenkins had 18 points and a career-best 12 assists for Golden State, which lost its fourth in a row.

"They outplayed us and we took our foot off the gas pedal," Warriors coach Mark Jackson said. "We didn't close them when we had them and it came back to bite us."

A pull-up jumper from Jenkins expanded Golden State's lead to 98-94 with 2:43 left, but Williams nailed a three-ball at the other end.

After Klay Thompson missed a three from the right wing, Humphries tied it by going 1-of-2 at the foul line with two minutes left, but Lee's turnaround hook shot from the left baseline provided Golden State with a 100-98 lead.

Green then dribbled along the left baseline and surged in for a thunderous dunk, and Lee lost the ball at the other end when Humphries got a hand on the ball in the lane. That led to Green's go-ahead shot, a runner in the lane off a dribble-drive feed from Williams.

Williams came up with a block of Brandon Rush with half a minute left, but the veteran point guard turned the ball over back to the Warriors with 8.7 seconds left on an errant pass out of bounds.

Jenkins drove into the land, but his turnaround shot from left of the basket was stuffed by Wallace's left hand as time ticked away.

Golden State held a decisive advantage in the first half, leading by four after one quarter and 51-42 at halftime. Lee scored 22 in the opening 24 minutes.

Jeremy Tyler scored 10 in the third, a period in which Golden State went 13- of-19 from the field. The difference was 76-57 following Thompson's three with 4:35 left, and it was 90-76 with 9:33 remaining prior to the collapse for Jackson's team.
