Warriors, Nets tangle in Oakland
Mar 30, 2012 - 2:55 PM (Sports Network) - Two lottery bound teams continue to play out the string on Friday when the Golden State Warriors play host to the banged-up New Jersey Nets. The Warriors dropped their third straight contest on Wednesday, falling to New Orleans 102-87 at ORACLE Arena.
David Lee led all scorers with 28 points to go with seven rebounds and five assists, while rookie Klay Thompson netted 13 points and Dorell Wright tallied 12. Golden State has now dropped its last three contests.
"We didn't respond and I thought it was huge," said Warriors head coach Mark Jackson about his team falling behind early. "We lost the game in the second quarter. When you allow them to have uncontested shots, it was very uncharacteristic of us and it wasn't who we are. It's disappointing."
The Nets, meanwhile, beat the Indiana Pacers for the first time in over three years Wednesday despite having just eight players available. Deron Williams scored 13 of his game-high 30 points in a dominant fourth quarter, leading New Jersey to a 100-84 win.
MarShon Brooks supplied 17 points, Gerald Green posted 14 points and Kris Humphries had 12 points with eight rebounds for the Nets, who snapped a 10- game losing streak to the Pacers.
"Give credit to New Jersey for continuing to play hard and work to get victories when they are out of the playoff race," said Indiana head coach Frank Vogel.
New Jersey notched its first win over Indiana since December 23, 2008.
Center Brook Lopez (sprained right ankle), guard Jordan Farmar (strained right groin) and forward Shelden Williams (eye) have already been ruled out again by the Nets for tonight's game while forward Jordan Williams (concussion) is doubtful. Guard Anthony Morrow, a former Warrior, should return from a two- game absence due to a bruised right shoulder, however.
For Golden State, guard Stephen Curry has been ruled out for at least two more weeks with a right ankle injury.
Curry, who has been sidelined for the Warriors' last 11 games, is continuing rehab following consultations with a foot and ankle specialist and the Golden State medical staff.
New Jersey has won two straight over the Warriors after losing the previous six in the series.
