Grizzlies beat T-Wolves, lose Conley

Feb 1, 2014 - 5:09 AM Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Zach Randolph poured in 26 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a 94-90 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.

Courtney Lee added 16 points, and Tayshaun Prince finished with 11 for the Grizzlies, winners in five straight and 10 of their last 11 games overall.

"This is huge for us, especially for the goals we have as far as making that playoff push," Lee said. "It definitely builds momentum."

It wasn't all positive for Memphis, however, as star guard Mike Conley left the game in the third quarter with an apparent left ankle injury. Conley landed awkwardly on his left foot and it rolled under him before falling to the floor in obvious pain. Conley was carried off the court and to the locker room and did not return.

"I can put weight on it now," Conley said. "Tomorrow is looking iffy, but hopefully after some treatment tonight and the next day we will go from there."

He had 12 points and eight assists before exiting.

Kevin Love scored a game-high 28 points and pulled down 16 rebounds, Kevin Martin scored 14 points with Jose Juan Barea and Dante Cunningham adding 12 points apiece for the Timberwolves, who had won five of their last six entering the contest.

"We had our chances in the end and had some really, really great looks. We just didn't convert," Love said.

Randolph's layup 4 1/2 minutes into the second half made it 59-43. Minnesota, however, outscored the Grizzlies 23-7 to take its first lead of the contest. Love scored 16 points on the run on 6-of-7 shooting -- 3-of-4 from 3-point range -- and the Wolves shot 66.7 percent (10-for-15) from the field over that stretch.

Randolph got a tough bank shot to go 20 seconds into the fourth, but a Cunningham slam followed by a Martin runner put the Wolves ahead 71-68. The sides traded blows from there until back-to-back Randolph jumpers, followed by a Prince 3-pointer, made it 91-85 with 59 seconds left.

Minnesota couldn't get closer than four the rest of the way.

Memphis outscored the Wolves 30-22 in the first quarter and held a 50-37 edge at the break.
