Hawks take down Kings

Mar 17, 2015 - 5:56 AM Sacramento, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Paul Millsap totaled 19 points and 10 rebounds and the Atlanta Hawks beat the Sacramento Kings for a 14th straight time in a rather tight 110-103 victory on Tuesday.

Atlanta has already set a single-season franchise record with 23 road wins.

"Winning on the road is tough," Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer said. "We just find ways to win."

Jeff Teague scored a team-high 23 points and handed out six assists as the Hawks improved to 3-1 on a six-game road trip that continues Wednesday against the Western Conference-leading Warriors.

DeMarre Carroll made three of Atlanta's 12 3-pointers and finished with 16 points in the club's third straight win.

Sacramento returned home following a 2-6 road trip and turned the ball over 20 times. DeMarcus Cousins gave it up five times to offset an otherwise solid 20- point, 13-rebound effort.

The Hawks led 82-76 entering the fourth quarter and were in danger of going down in the closing minutes. Andre Miller, though, missed a baseline jumper, and Kent Bazemore connected on a corner 3-pointer at the other end for a 103-99 Atlanta lead.

Teague followed a Cousins miss with a floater, and the Hawks held on from there.

"They're a good basketball team," Kings head coach George Karl said of the Hawks. "They're confident."

A tight first quarter ended with Shelvin Mack beating the buzzer with a 3- pointer to pull the Hawks within 29-28.

Teague scored seven points on a 9-0 run late in the second quarter, and Atlanta brought a 54-47 cushion into the locker room.
