Suns snap skid with win over Nuggets
Feb 26, 2015 - 6:51 AM Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Brandon Knight scored 19 points with six assists to help the Phoenix Suns snap out of a funk with a 110-96 win over the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night.Eric Bledsoe had 18 points with six assists and Gerald Green tallied 15 points off the bench for the Suns, who snapped a five-game losing streak.
"Being comfortable is going to take time," Knight said of his new team. "It's all new. It's all coming so quickly. It'll take time."
Will Barton netted a game-high 22 points off the bench for the Nuggets, while Danilo Gallinari posted 20 points with seven rebounds and Ty Lawson added 13 points with seven assists.
"I'm all about winning," said Barton, who was acquired from Portland in the Arron Afflalo deal at the trade deadline. "Whether I score 20 or zero, if I'm out there doing things to contribute to a win, that's really all that matters."
Denver has dropped four in a row and 17 of its last 19.
The Nuggets opened the game with an 8-0 run, but the Suns countered with eight straight to tie it. Knight and Bledsoe had a hand in each basket to bring Phoenix back.
Marcus Morris hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the Suns into the second quarter holding a 35-26 lead.
Barton's 3-pointer cut Denver's deficit to one with over eight minutes left in the second, then Gallinari's technical free throw tied the game at 47-47 minutes later.
The Suns ended the quarter on an 11-4 run to grab a 58-51 lead at the break.
Denver was close throughout the second half, but could not get over the hump. Phoenix held a two-point edge when Morris scored the first three points of a 12-0 run to make it an 83-69 game late in the third.
The Suns led by 10 entering the fourth and did not allow the margin to dip below six the rest of the way.
