Vucevic leads Magic past Wolves

Apr 4, 2015 - 4:26 AM Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Nikola Vucevic had a career-high 37 points to go with 17 rebounds and the Orlando Magic defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 97-84 on Friday night.

Tobias Harris posted 25 points and 12 boards for the Magic, who snapped a four-game losing streak and 12-game slide on the road.

"He was fantastic from the start," Orlando interim head coach James Borrego said. "Loved the mentality he had tonight."

Andrew Wiggins netted 22 points to lead Minnesota, which has dropped six straight.

"Vucevic is a good player," Wolves coach Flip Saunders said. "He's got nice touch shooting the ball."

Minnesota trimmed what was once a 12-point second half deficit to 76-73 after Kevin Martin hit a jumper with 7:30 left.

The Magic, though, responded with a 13-3 run to put the game away. Harris knocked down consecutive 3-pointers at one point during the surge, which was capped on a Vucevic three-point play for an 89-76 margin with just over four minutes to go.

Orlando cruised to the finish line from there.

Earlier, Victor Oladipo and Vucevic poured in six quick points apiece as the Magic raced out to a 17-6 spread.

They were up 29-23 following a quarter of play, 52-42 at the break and 72-65 after three.
