Conley, Grizzlies down Blazers
Apr 23, 2015 - 4:19 AM Memphis, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Mike Conley shook off the throbbing pain in his right foot to help the Memphis Grizzlies to another easy victory.Conley had 18 points and six assists as the Grizzlies cruised to a 97-82 win over the Portland Trail Blazers to jump out to a 2-0 lead in their Western Conference first-round series.
Conley, who missed the last four games of the regular season due to the injury, went 6-of-11 from the floor.
Marc Gasol posted 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists, Zach Randolph provided 10 points and 10 boards and Courtney Lee netted 18 points for Memphis, which took its first 2-0 playoff series lead in franchise history.
The Grizzlies, who won Game 1 100-86 on Sunday, outscored Portland 31-18 in the second quarter to take a 50-39 advantage at the break and the Blazers never got within less than seven in the second half.
LaMarcus Aldridge tallied 24 points and 14 rebounds to lead Portland, which was without Arron Afflalo and Chris Kaman due to injury. Afflalo was held out for a fifth straight game due to a right shoulder strain.
Blazers star guard Damian Lillard struggled from the floor again, scoring 18 points on 5-of-16 shooting after going 5-of-21 from the field in Game 1.
Game 3 is Saturday in Portland.
Aldridge's turnaround jumper gave the Blazers a 23-19 lead in the early seconds of the second before Memphis went on a 20-4 run to seize control of the contest.
Beno Udrih poured in six straight points at one point during the surge, which was capped on a Vince Carter 3-pointer for a 39-27 Memphis margin at the 4:56 mark of the frame.
The Grizzlies led by as many as 18 in the third before heading into the fourth with a 73-60 cushion.
Earlier, the Blazers raced out to a 10-2 start prior to holding a 21-19 edge after a quarter of play.
Aldridge was 4-of-6 from the floor in the opening 12 minutes, but went just 3- of-14 the rest of the game.
