76ers continue tough road trip against Kings
Dec 27, 2006 - 4:20 PM Philadelphia (7-20) at Sacramento (11-14) 10:00 pm ESTSACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- After briefly turning things around, the Philadelphia 76ers discovered their success was short-lived.
In the second contest of a seven-game road trip, the 76ers will take on the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.
After losing 12 straight contests, Philadelphia had won back-to-back games against Atlantic Division opponents Boston and New York.
However, the Sixers received a rude awakening in Tuesday's 116-97 loss to the Golden State Warriors.
Rookie Rodney Carney scored a season-high 25 points for Philadelphia, which shot 44 percent (38-of-86) to fall to 3-13 on the road.
On Friday, former Sixer John Salmons scored 21 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 10 assists as the Kings posted a 101-96 victory over the Denver Nuggets.
Brad Miller had 21 points and 14 rebounds and Kevin Martin added 17 for Sacramento, which had to travel from Sacramento to Colorado on Friday because of a blizzard.
The Kings lost both games to Philadelphia last season, ending a nine-game winning streak in the series. However, Sacramento is 12-2 all-time at home against Philadelphia.
