James sidelined with toe injury as Cavaliers visit 76ers
Jan 26, 2007 - 6:18 PM Cleveland (24-18) at Philadelphia (13-30) 7:00 pm ESTPHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- LeBron James will not get a chance to settle his score with the Philadelphia 76ers.
James will be sidelined with a sprained right big toe Friday when the Cleveland Cavaliers visit the 76ers in the capper of a home-and-home series.
After undergoing an MRI on Thursday and being re-examined Friday in Philadelphia, James was ruled out of the contest against the Sixers. Cavaliers coach Mike Brown has listed James as day-to-day.
The news concerning the injury comes one day after James received 2,516,049 votes - the second-most ever - to lead all players in the final fan balloting for the 2007 NBA All-Star Game.
The superstar swingman, who earned MVP honors in last season's All-Star Game, ended Yao Ming's two-year reign as top vote-getter. James' total was exceeded only by Yao's 2,558,278 in 2005.
The 6-8 James is averaging team highs of 27.1 points and 6.1 assists with 6.8 rebounds in 42 games this season. He scored a season-high 39 points in Wednesday's 118-115 double-overtime loss to the Sixers in Cleveland.
Larry Hughes scored 26 points and Zydrunas Ilgauskas added 23 with 10 rebounds for Cleveland, which can tie a franchise mark for most road wins in a month (six) - last matched in February, 1993.
Andre Iguodala made 10-of-18 shots to score a career-best 34 points, including eight in the second overtime as Philadelphia won for the third time in four outings.
Samuel Dalembert scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and rookie Rodney Carney added 16 points for the 76ers, who hit 26-of-27 free throws.
