Anthony, Nuggets hope to end 19-game road slide at Kings

Feb 3, 2007 - 6:16 PM Denver (23-21) at Sacramento (18-26) 10:00 pm EST

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- League-leading scorer Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets just ended one streak. Now they must stop another.

The shorthanded Nuggets will try to avoid their 20th straight road loss against the Sacramento Kings when both teams square off on Saturday.

The Kings have not ended up on the short end of a decision in the series against the Nuggets here since a 109-96 setback on January 7, 1997. That is the longest streak of home dominance by one team over another in the NBA.

Denver did end a four-game losing streak Friday with a 114-107 overtime win over the Portland Trail Blazers. Anthony notched his fourth 30-point performance since serving his 15-game suspension for fighting.

The Nuggets might be without All-Star Allen Iverson, who is nursing a sprained right ankle, for a third straight game. He ranks third in the league in scoring at 28.9 point per game.

Sacramento is coming off a 100-98 win against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday, which snapped a three-game skid. Second-year guard Kevin Martin led the charge with 28 points.

The Kings will be without coach Eric Musselman, who will start serving a two-game suspension for his DUI arrest on October 21.
