Garnett, Timberwolves search for consistency vs. Grizzlies
Feb 9, 2007 - 4:04 PM Minnesota (23-26) at Memphis (12-38) 8:00 pm ESTMEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Kevin Garnett and the Minnesota Timberwolves looked like a totally different team in their last game.
Coming off one of the best offensive performances of the season, the Timberwolves hope to keep it going Friday when they visit the woeful Memphis Grizzlies.
Despite his squad struggling yet again, Garnett is averaging 22.5 points and 12.4 rebounds per game through 48 contests this season.
The superstar forward has carried the team for most of the campaign but got a lot of help in Wednesday's impressive 121-93 victory over Golden State.
Ricky Davis scored 26 points and Garnett had 17 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists for the Timberwolves, who had lost 10 of their 12 games prior to Wednesday's win in which they matched a season high in points.
Minnesota's huge victory came two days after an embarrassing, 105-77, loss at Houston. The Timberwolves will try to become more consistent when they take on the struggling Grizzlies, who have the NBA's worst record at 12-38.
The Grizzlies were routed by the surging Dallas Mavericks, 113-97, on Wednesday. Pau Gasol had 29 points and nine rebounds for Memphis, which has dropped eight of its last 10 games.
Minnesota posted a 116-110 victory at Memphis on January 12 in the only previous meeting between the clubs this season. Garnett had 28 points and 11 rebounds in the contest.
