Redd, Williams help Bucks rout Warriors

Feb 28, 2007 - 5:39 AM MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Michael Redd and Mo Williams are starting to turn it around for the Milwaukee Bucks.

Redd scored 31 points and Williams netted 16 and dished out a career-high 13 assists as the Bucks coasted to their second straight win, a 122-101 victory over the Golden State Warriors.

Charlie Bell scored 20 points for the Bucks, who improved to 2-3 since Redd returned to the lineup after missing 20 games with a left knee injury.

"This is fun for me now (with Redd back), I can play my game, pick my spots and sit back and rack up the assists," Williams said. "We have got to come out and get a win no matter who it is. We have to win every game from here on out, that's our mentality."

Milwaukee coach Terry Stotts likes his team's improved offensive play with everyone back on the court.

"We're playing a little bit like we want to be playing from the offensive end," Stotts said. "I like our style of play and confidence breeds confidence. It's important that we take advantage of our schedule. We've had more road games than (any other team) and we have an advantageous home schedule."

With Redd, Williams and Bell forming a formidable scoring trio, Milwaukee played well in the first two months of the season. However, battling injuries and inconsistent play, the Bucks are just 5-22 since January.

"If we can get back to the level we played in December, we're going to be in good shape," Redd said.

But they seem to be turning it around thanks to resurgence of their backcourt duo. In Saturday's 109-90 win over Philadelphia, Redd and Williams combined to score 52 points on 19-of-31 shooting from the field, including 8-of-14 from the arc.

It was more of the same on Tuesday. Redd shot 11-of-19 from the floor, including 6-of-11 on 3-pointers, and Williams was 8-of-16 for Milwaukee, which shot 54 percent (49-of-91) from the field, 13-of-27 from the arc and dished out 31 assists.

"Mo's been playing very well, he's a good shooter and there's going to be games that he has to take 10 shots and there's going to be others where he takes 20 shots," Stotts said. "He's a very good shooter and not someone I would want to tell to stop shooting."

"(Back-to-back wins) really helps our confidence," Redd said. "The way we're winning is impressive, and we have a lot of home games coming up. If we can keep playing like this, we have a real chance to make a run (at the playoffs).

Monta Ellis scored 17 points for the Warriors, who dropped to a dismal 6-22 on the road.
