Garnett, Timberwolves aim for revenge vs. undermanned Sonics

Mar 27, 2007 - 1:09 PM Seattle (27-42) at Minnesota (30-39) 8:00 pm EDT

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) - The Minnesota Timberwolves still have a shot at a postseason berth. But revenge might be the motivation for Tuesday's game against the Seattle SuperSonics.

Four days ago, Minnesota watched a nine-point fourth quarter lead evaporate in an 85-82 loss at Seattle. Rashard Lewis scored 13 points in the quarter for the Sonics.

All-Star Kevin Garnett helped the Timberwolves bounce back with a game-winning shot as time expired in a 94-93 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday.

Minnesota trails the eighth-place Los Angeles Clippers (34-36) by 3 1/2 games in the Western Conference playoff race with 13 contests remaining. Golden State (33-39) and New Orleans (32-38) are also ahead of the Timberwolves.

The Sonics, who will be without Ray Allen for the remainder of the year, are coming off one of their most lopsided losses - a 120-79 setback to the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday.

A seven-time All-Star, Allen decided to undergo season-ending surgery due to bone spurs in his left ankle.
