Sixers resume road trip in Big D vs. Mavs

Nov 12, 2010 - 3:50 PM (Sports Network) - The Dallas Mavericks will try to win three straight games for the first time this season, as they play host to the Philadelphia 76ers at American Airlines Center tonight.

Dallas has won two straight and improved to 5-2 on the season with Wednesday's 106-91 triumph at Memphis. Jason Terry scored 25 points off the bench, Shawn Marion added 20 points and seven rebounds and Dirk Nowitzki registered 12 points and 10 boards for the Mavs, who buried 54.1 percent of their shots and had a 49-40 advantage on the glass.

"The great thing about our team is our depth. We probably have five starters coming off the bench at any time," said Dallas first-year forward Tyson Chandler, who chipped in 11 points and eight rebounds.

On the injury front for the Mavericks, Nowitzki is probable for tonight because of a sprained right ankle and forward Caron Butler is listed as questionable with back spasms. Butler did not play against the Grizzlies and suffered the injury in Monday's win over Boston.

The Mavs will also host New Orleans on the short residency.

Philadelphia will resume a five-game road trip in the Lone Star State tonight and has alternated wins and losses over the past five games.

In Wednesday's 109-103 loss at Oklahoma City, Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant both scored 31 points to lead the Thunder and even Philly's mark at 1-1 on the road swing. Jrue Holiday, Elton Brand and Jodie Meeks each scored 17 points for Philadelphia, which was coming off Sunday's win in New York.

"We just have to be better in those crucial situations," Sixers head coach Doug Collins said. "We're just trying to learn."

Rookie Evan Turner contributed 15 points and eight rebounds in defeat. Turner was starting in place of the injured Andre Iguodala, who has missed back-to- back games due to a strained right Achilles tendon and is questionable for tonight. Sixers guard Lou Williams is expected to miss Friday's game with a separated left shoulder suffered in Oklahoma City and forward Jason Kapono is probable for personal reasons.

The 76ers will also visit San Antonio and Cleveland on the trek.

Dallas and Philadelphia split a home-and-home series a year ago, with each team coming out on top at home. The Mavs have won seven of the past nine matchups with the 76ers, who are winless in their last five trips to Big D.
