Spurs beat Thunder to extend win streak to seven

Nov 15, 2010 - 7:26 AM Oklahoma City, OK (Sports Network) - Tony Parker finished with a game-high 24 points, and Matt Bonner finished with 21 points on a career-best 7-of-7 from three-point range to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 117-104 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Manu Ginobili finished with 21 points on 11-of-11 from the free throw line, and Richard Jefferson supplied 18 points in the victory for San Antonio, which has now won seven straight.

Kevin Durant finished with 23 points and seven rebounds, and Russell Westbrook ended with 19 points and eight assists for the Thunder, who have lost four straight against the Spurs.

James Harden finished with 14 points in a reserve role, and Serge Ibaka ended with 13 points and five rebounds in the loss.

"They put in a smaller group and we were forced to switch everything," Durant said. "They did a good job of getting to the rim and kicking out for threes. We've got to do a better job of stopping the ball and closing up the paint."

Westbrook hit a jumper in the opening minute of the fourth to get the Thunder within 85-82, but Bonner threes endcapped a 10-1 Spurs run that put the game away for good.

Oklahoma City didn't get closer than nine the rest of the way, and Parker sank a driving layup with 1:33 left to put San Antonio up 117-101, their largest lead of the game.

"Our defense was excellent in the second half," said Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich. "We started the game slowly and put ourselves in a hole, and we dug enough to be in the ball game by halftime...I thought our defense was very good, maybe the best of the season, and a lot of guys participated in that, so it generated our game."

The Thunder held a 35-30 lead after 12 minutes of play, thanks to 10 points apiece from Durant and Jeff Green.

Ibaka's alley-oop dunk with 6:45 left in the half gave the Thunder a nine- point lead, but the Spurs countered in the back-and-forth second to hold Oklahoma City to a 66-61 margin heading to the locker room.

After Westbrook hit two free throws to put the Thunder up 68-61, DeJuan Blair made three consecutive baskets -- the last a three-point play -- to tie the game two minutes into the third quarter.

It was tied three more times in the third, and after Parker hit a jumper to put the score at 77-77, Tim Duncan got a short hook shot in the lane to fall with 3:45 left.

More than two minutes later, Ibaka made 1-of-2 from the line and Jefferson responded with a deep three. Durant's floating jumper with 55.3 seconds left trimmed the Spurs' advantage to 82-80 heading to the fourth.
