Hornets hope to cure road woes in Indy vs. Pacers

Dec 20, 2010 - 4:11 PM (Sports Network) - The New Orleans Hornets hope to halt a five-game road losing streak tonight when they invade Conseco Fieldhouse to take on the Indiana Pacers.

The Hornets dropped the opener of a brief two-game sojourn away from the Big Easy in Auburn Hills on Sunday when Ben Gordon scored 24 of his 25 points in the second half and overtime to lead Detroit over New Orleans, 111-108.

David West had a game-high 32 points with nine boards, while Chris Paul ended with 23 points and 10 assists for the Hornets, who had a two-game winning streak snapped.

"We gave up 59 points in the second half before overtime and we just couldn't guard the ball tonight," said Hornets head coach Monty Williams. "All they did was attack and kick out for threes and then we just had some bad execution down the stretch. I thought it was a snowball effect."

The Pacers, who are opening up a three-game homestand tonight, lost for the fourth time in five games on Sunday in Boston when Paul Pierce fashioned his seventh career triple- double with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists as the Celtics pushed their winning streak to 13 games with a 99-88 decision over Indiana.

Danny Granger scored 19 points and Roy Hibbert chipped in with 17 points and 14 boards for the Pacers, who shot an unsightly 35.4 percent from the field.

"They're (Boston) so tied in together offensively and defensively you almost have to play a perfect game to beat them," Granger said. "We missed a lot of shots but we missed them because they were in our face for most of those shots. They're a really good defensive team."

Indiana, which is 7-6 at home, will also face Memphis and Boston on its residency.

The Hornets have taken five straight over the Pacers and have also won four consecutive meetings in the series in Indianapolis.
