Warriors erase deficit, top Kings in OT

Dec 22, 2010 - 7:56 AM Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) - Golden State overcame a 16-point fourth quarter deficit and Monta Ellis scored nine points in overtime, as the Warriors topped the Sacramento Kings, 117-109, at ARCO Arena.

Ellis scored a game-high 36 and Reggie Williams added 24 points for the Warriors, who got 15 points and 12 rebounds from David Lee.

Vladimir Radmanovic finished with 15 points off the bench -- including a game- tying three at the end of regulation -- for Golden State, which halted a two-game skid. Dorell Wright supplied 17 points, six rebounds and six assists in the win.

Beno Udrih led the Kings with a career-high 34 points and Tyreke Evans finished with 15 to go with 10 rebounds and seven assists for Sacramento, which has lost 14-of-15.

Carl Landry finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

"There's a line in this league when you think you can't get any lower, it gets lower," Kings head coach Paul Westphal said.

A Landry layup with 9:20 left in regulation gave the Kings a 94-78 lead. However, Radmanovic connected on a deep three at the other end to start an 18-4 Warriors run that stretched into the final seconds of play.

Ellis' short layup with 8:22 had Golden State within 94-83, and after Lee added two from the line, Wright and Ellis both connected on layups.

Evans made a layup of his own at the 4:21 mark to temporarily halt the Warriors' surge, making it a 96-89 game, but after the teams traded baskets, Ellis' bucket trimmed the deficit to five. Williams then made three of four from the charity stripe to cap the Sacramento run with 15.1 on the clock.

The Kings were up four, 102-98, after Udrih made two from the line with 8.1 seconds left, but a Williams free throw with 3.4 ticks remaining cut the margin to three. Williams missed his second try, but Golden State got the rebound, and Radmanovic's triple as time expired sent the game into overtime tied at 102.

Lee's three-point play with 1:25 left in overtime gave Golden State a 111-109 lead. After a Sacramento turnover, Ellis made two from the line. He scored the game's final six points in all -- four free throws and a layup -- as the Kings missed their final four shots down the stretch.

"I think our guys held true and we were able to make a lot of plays, defensive stops," Warriors head coach Keith Smart said. "That is what I am trying to get them to understand. They are good offensive players, but if they can get it into their hearts how hard it is to be a good defensive team, rebounding and making stops when they are necessary, then you are going to have a chance to have fun down the road."

Udrih scored 12 of the Kings' 18 first-quarter points, but the Warriors shot 64.7 percent from the field, en route to a 26-18 lead. Landry scored 13 in the second quarter as the Kings cut the Golden State lead to one, 49-48, at the intermission.

The Warriors' lead was as high as six in the opening minutes of the third, but after a Landry free throw about midway through tied the game at 61 and keyed a 12-2 run.

Udrih's pullup jumper with 3:37 left ended the spurt and put the Kings up 72-63. Francisco Garcia added a three and a layup in the final 31 seconds to put Sacramento up 84-70 heading to the fourth.
