Blazers, Warriors clash in Oakland

Dec 25, 2010 - 3:50 PM (Sports Network) - The NBA's Christmas Day ticket will finish up in Oakland as the Golden State Warriors entertain the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Blazers, who are opening up a three-game road trip tonight, are coming off a perfect 3-0 homestand, culminating with a 106-80 rout of Milwaukee on Monday. LaMarcus Aldridge scored 29 points to go along with a career-high 19 rebounds in that one, his fourth straight double-double.

Wesley Matthews scored 22 and Rudy Fernandez added 17 points and seven assists for Portland, which is 10-3 at home on the season versus 5-11 on the road. Nicolas Batum contributed 10 points for the Blazers, who have won eight of the last nine against the Bucks.

"Right now we're playing together, we're playing with a lot of heart, we're playing with a lot of emotion, we're playing fast," Matthews said. "Everybody's getting involved in the offense, and that's key right now."

On the injury front for Portland, All-Star swingman Brandon Roy (sore knee) has missed the past three games, while centers Marcus Camby (strained shoulder) and Joel Przybilla (sprained ankle) have sat in the last two. Roy and Przybilla will remain on the sidelines for tonight's contest while Camby is listed as questionable for the Blazers, who have lost seven of eight away from home and will also face Utah and Denver on its trek

The Warriors, meanwhile, snapped a two-game skid in Sacramento on Tuesday by overcoming a 16-point fourth quarter deficit to eventually win 117-109 in overtime.

Monta Ellis scored a game-high 36, including nine in the extra frame, and Reggie Williams added 24 points for the Warriors, who got 15 points and 12 rebounds from David Lee.

Vladimir Radmanovic finished with 15 points off the bench -- including a game- tying three at the end of regulation -- for Golden State, which won for just the second time in 11 games. Dorell Wright supplied 17 points, six rebounds and six assists in the win.

"I think our guys held true and we were able to make a lot of plays, defensive stops," Warriors head coach Keith Smart said. "That is what I am trying to get them to understand. They are good offensive players, but if they can get it into their hearts how hard it is to be a good defensive team then you are going to have a chance to have fun down the road."

Portland has won three of the last four meetings in the series, including a 96-95 thriller in the Rose Garden back on Dec. 18.
