Ellis, Warriors dominate slumping Cavs

Jan 8, 2011 - 7:24 AM Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Monta Ellis had 32 points and 10 assists as the Golden State Warriors downed the slumping Cleveland Cavaliers, 116-98, at ORACLE Arena.

David Lee had 22 points and 14 rebounds, Dorell Wright added 20 points and six boards while Stephen Curry contributed 15 points for the Warriors, who have taken their past two games after losing three of four.

"They made it close and made their runs, but we were able to finish it," said Ellis. "We didn't play to our ability the whole game, but we were able to make the shots and stops we needed to win."

Antawn Jamison scored 21 points and pulled down five boards for the Cavaliers, who have lost nine straight and 19 of 20. J.J. Hickson had 17 and nine while Manny Harris posted 16 points and 10 rebounds.

"Our guys are showing some fight, but we have a lot of young guys who are making mistakes," said Cleveland head coach Byron Scott. "You've got to expect that with a young team. When they start to get more comfortable the wins will come."

An Ellis three-pointer broke a tie in the first and Lee followed with a layup to give the Warriors a 20-15 advantage with under six minutes to play in the opening frame. A 7-0 run a bit later helped the team take a 33-24 lead into the second.

Golden State used an 8-3 run in the second to extend its lead to double digits. Lee's slam to cap the scoring in the half helped the team take a 65-49 lead into the break.

Cleveland was able to chip away at its deficit in the third and Harris' three- ball in the final minute of the quarter helped the team cut its deficit to 88-77 heading into the final frame.

Jamison got the first bucket of the fourth to get the deficit to nine, but Reggie Williams countered with a three-pointer.

Cleveland kept itself in striking distance over the next several minutes, but a 7-0 run capped on two free throws from Ellis with just over four minutes to play made it a 108-88 game.
