Suns kick off homestand vs. Bobcats

Jan 26, 2011 - 4:36 PM (Sports Network) - The Phoenix Suns are back in the desert and will kick off a five-game homestand tonight versus the Charlotte Bobcats.

The Suns went 3-2 on the trip and dropped the last two portions in Detroit and Philadelphia. In Monday's 105-95 loss to the 76ers, Jared Dudley came off the bench to register 23 points and seven rebounds, while Steve Nash posted 17 points and nine assists for Phoenix, which has dropped two in a row since a five-game winning streak.

"They did a good job of swarming and being aggressive on the ball," Phoenix head coach Alvin Gentry said of the Sixers. "We weren't able to handle that."

Grant Hill and Goran Dragic netted 13 and 12 points, respectively, in defeat. Vince Carter was held to just two points and is still four points shy from passing former Sun Tom Chambers for 36th on the NBA's all-time scoring list.

Phoenix will also host Boston, New Orleans, Milwaukee and Oklahoma City on the residency and is 11-9 in the Valley of the Sun. It is unbeaten in the previous three games at US Airways Center.

Meanwhile, the Bobcats will continue a six-game road trip tonight and kicked off the trek with Tuesday's 94-89 victory in Sacramento. Stephen Jackson finished with a game-high 21 points and Gerald Wallace added 19 for Charlotte, which has won three of four and seven of 11 games.

Kwame Brown grabbed 18 rebounds to go along with 13 points, while D.J. Augustin contributed 16 points in a winning cause.

"This one kind of sets the tone for us and the guys know they can win out here. That's the main thing," said Charlotte head coach Paul Silas. "Everyone has a sense that we can get it done."

Silas' club will also visit the Warriors, Clippers, Jazz and Pistons and owns a 6-14 ledger as the guest this season.

Charlotte beat the Suns, 123-105, on Nov. 20 this season at Time Warner Cable Arena and has won three straight and four of the last five meetings between the two clubs.

The Bobcats, however, have lost five of the six matchups held in the desert.
