Reeling Hornets visit listless Nets

Feb 9, 2011 - 4:16 PM (Sports Network) - The New Orleans Hornets are caught in a tailspin since their season-high 10-game winning streak and will pay a visit to the New Jersey Nets tonight at the Prudential Center.

The Hornets will play two straight and 10 of their next 13 games on the road, where they are 12-14 this season. New Orleans has dropped three straight away from the Hive and three in a row overall, including Monday's 104-92 setback versus the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Big Easy.

David West had 18 points and six rebounds, Chris Paul finished with 17 points and 13 assists and Marco Belinelli netted 15 points for New Orleans, which has lost five of six games. West expressed his displeasure of his team's losing ways following the game.

"I'm just tired of (not) putting together a complete effort on both sides of the ball." West said. "We haven't been defending the way we are supposed to."

New Orleans is 12-14 outside of the Big Easy this season.

Meanwhile, the Nets have dropped three straight and five of six games, including Sunday's 105-86 setback to the resurgent Indiana Pacers from the Prudential Center.

Devin Harris and Brook Lopez both scored 13 points, with Harris dishing out seven assists. Anthony Morrow finished with 11 points and rounded out New Jersey's double-digit scorers.

"It's our starts. We're getting off to sluggish starts," Harris said." We need to start the game a little better."

The Nets are 12-13 at home this season.

New Orleans defeated the Nets, 105-91, on Dec. 22 at home behind 21 points and 10 rebounds from currently-injured center Emeka Okafor. Paul also recorded a double-double of his own with 14 assists and 12 points in that one for the Hornets, who have won seven of the last nine in this series.

These two teams have split the last 14 meetings at New Jersey.
