'Melo, Knicks visit Cavs

Feb 25, 2011 - 4:18 PM (Sports Network) - Carmelo Anthony and the new-look New York Knicks will hit the road for three games and are scheduled to take on the lowly Cleveland Cavaliers tonight at Quicken Loans Arena.

Anthony, acquired from Denver in a blockbuster deal earlier this week, made his New York debut Wednesday in a 114-108 win over the visiting Milwaukee Bucks from Madison Square Garden. He finished with 27 points and a team-high 10 rebounds for the Knicks, who have won three straight and four of six games.

Chauncey Billups was another big piece in the Nuggets deal and compiled 21 points, eight assists and six rebounds. Amare Stoudemire added 19 points, five boards and four assists, while Toney Douglas scored 23 off the bench.

"It was a good day. It was a really good day," said Billups. "We've gone through so much in the last few days and it was good to be able to [win] for the fans. It just felt good."

The Knicks are currently sixth in the Eastern Conference standings and will also visit Miami and Orlando on the road swing. They own a 13-14 record as the visitor this season.

Cleveland will continue an eight-game homestand Friday and has alternated wins and losses over the first five bouts on the residency. In Wednesday's 124-119 loss versus the Houston Rockets, Antawn Jamison led the way with 26 points and Ramon Sessions provided 20 with 12 assists.

"Defensively, it was a pretty good job initially," Jamison said. "But any time you give a team, I think, what, 22 extra possessions? A team like that, especially, who's pretty good offensively, you're really going to put yourself behind the eight ball."

Manny Harris and Anthony Parker scored 21and 19 points, respectively, for the Cavaliers, who shot 52 percent for the game and were outrebounded, 57-37.

Cleveland will also host the Sixers and Spurs, and is just 7-20 at the Q this season. It also acquired guard Baron Davis and an unprotected 2011 first-round pick from the Los Angeles Clippers for guards Mo Williams and Jamario Moon. The Cavs also landed rookies Semih Erden and Luke Harangody from Boston in exchange for a 2013 second-round pick. It's unknown if any of Cleveland's new players will be ready tonight.

The Cavs defeated New York, 109-102, in overtime on Dec. 18 this season at home and have won nine straight and 10 of the past 11 matchups in this series. The Knicks have dropped seven in a row and 15 of 18 trips to the Forest City.
