Clippers win fourth straight, snap Celtics' streak at five

Mar 10, 2011 - 4:44 AM Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Mo Williams and DeAndre Jordan scored 28 and 21 points, respectively, as the Los Angeles Clippers took down the Eastern Conference-leading Boston Celtics, 108-103.

Jordan also pulled down nine rebounds for the Clippers, who have won a season- high four straight games. Blake Griffin and Ryan Gomes added 12 points apiece.

"For some reason I just love the battles I've had in the past with Boston," Williams said. "I always get up for this game, I was up for this game today. I wouldn't say it's a playoff feeling, but to play those guys, I didn't even take a nap today so I was ready to play."

Ray Allen finished with 23 points and six rebounds for the Celtics, who had a five-game winning streak snapped.

Nenad Krstic donated 20 points and nine boards for Boston, which got 19 points and six assists from Paul Pierce. Kevin Garnett had 16 points and eight rebounds in defeat.

The Clippers used some sharp shooting in the first quarter to build a sizeable lead. Holding a 15-13 edge, LA ripped off 13 straight points to create some distance. Williams tallied six points during the surge, which Al-Farouq Aminu capped with a slam for a 28-13 margin with under two minutes to go.

Los Angeles shot 68.4 percent from the field over the first 12 minutes to grab a 30-17 advantage.

The Clippers stayed hot in the second period, shooting 66.7 percent from the floor en route to a 60-42 lead at the half. LA led by as many as 20 in the second.

"It's tough when you get out to bad starts and a lot of that has to do with the starters," Pierce said. "How we come out at the beginning of the games, we've got to come out with a better focus. Once you get a team confidence like the Clippers then they feed off that for the rest of the game and were able to get the win."

Boston cut into its deficit in the third quarter, as the Celtics closed out the frame on an 11-3 run. Jeff Green's layup made it a 76-66 game heading to the fourth.

Trailing by 13, 86-73, with 9:17 to play, the Celtics put together a 10-0 flurry. Allen made a three-pointer during the burst, which Garnett capped with a jumper to cut the gap to 86-83 with 5:38 remaining.

But Williams made three free throws to spark an 11-4 Los Angeles run. Williams also made a three-pointer during the surge, which Gomes topped off with a trey for a 97-87 lead with 3:59 to go.

Allen made a three-pointer with 10.5 seconds left to make it a 106-103 game, but Randy Foye made two from the line to seal the victory for the Clippers.

The Clippers had lost three straight at Boston...The Celtics were looking to extend their home winning streak to five games...Griffin had only seven rebounds and is one double-double away from matching Elton Brand's Los Angeles record of 55 established during the 2001-02 season. Bob McAdoo holds the franchise record with 69 double-doubles set in 1974-75, when the franchise was formerly known as the Buffalo Braves...The Clippers shot 52 percent from the field...Rajon Rondo tallied 13 points, nine assists and seven rebounds for Boston, which shot 44 percent from the field.
