Pistons, Cavs tangle at the Q

Mar 25, 2011 - 3:11 PM (Sports Network) - Central Division foes playing out the string meet in the Forest City Friday when the Detroit Pistons visit the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Detroit, which has dropped seven straight on the road, comes in after a hard- fought 100-94 loss to Eastern Conference power Miami on Wednesday. Dwyane Wade scored 24 points, Chris Bosh had 23 and LeBron James added 19 in that one as the Heat buckled down in the fourth quarter for a 100-94 victory over the Pistons at The Palace.

Miami, after trailing by as many as 11, closed the game on a 30-13 run that began when Mike Miller buried a three-pointer at the end of the third quarter.

"You have to give the Pistons some credit," said Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra. "They gave us everything we could handle."

Richard Hamilton scored 27 points to lead the Pistons, who have lost two in a row and seven of their last 10 overall. Detroit had a three-game home winning streak snapped, but not without a fight -- even if that fight only lasted three quarters.

The Cavs, meanwhile, are also coming off a difficult loss in their last encounter, a 98-94 overtime setback to New Jersey on Wednesday. Kris Humphries scored 18 points and was a dominant factor on the boards, collecting a career- high 23 rebounds, in the Nets' win.

Ramon Sessions scored a game-high 21 points to go along with eight rebounds for the Cavaliers, who have lost four straight and eight of their last nine overall. J.J. Hickson and Alonzo Gee had 17 and 10 points, respectively, in the losing effort. Hickson also grabbed 17 boards.

"We had a chance to steal the game in overtime and it just didn't happen for us," Hickson said.

The Cavs are expected to get a boost tonight with the return of point guard Baron Davis, who has played in just three games since excelling in his Cleveland debut in New York back on March 4. Davis has been dealing with back spasms and a death in the family.

Detroit snapped a seven-game skid to the Cavs with a pair of wins this season.
