National Basketball Association Playoff Game Capsules

Apr 24, 2011 - 5:55 AM Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Danny Granger finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds, helping the Pacers hold off a furious rally and playoff elimination with an 89-84 victory over the Chicago Bulls. Roy Hibbert added 16 points and 10 boards for Indiana, which still faces a 3-1 series deficit heading into Tuesday's Game 5 in Chicago. But the Pacers dominated for almost all of Saturday's contest to prevent the Bulls from sweeping the Eastern Conference quarterfinal set. Indiana led by as many as 18 and was still up by double digits with two minutes left, but top-seeded Chicago staged a comeback and nearly pulled it off, getting within a point with 15.3 seconds left. But Carlos Boozer missed a potential tying three-pointer with only a few seconds remaining, and Granger made two free throws to secure the outcome in another close game. Every contest in this series has been decided by six points or fewer.

Final Score: Portland 84, Dallas 82

Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Brandon Roy scored Portland's final eight points to cap a huge fourth-quarter rally, as the Trail Blazers erased a 23- point deficit to defeat the Dallas Mavericks, 84-82, in Game 4 of their Western Conference quarterfinal set at the Rose Garden. Roy scored 24 points off the bench for the Blazers, who won 97-92 on Thursday and now head back to Dallas for Game 5 on Monday with the series even at two games apiece. LaMarcus Aldridge added 18 points and six rebounds for Portland, which outscored Dallas, 35-15, in the fourth. Andre Miller donated 14 points. Dirk Nowitzki tallied 20 points for the Mavericks, who have a bad history at the Rose Garden. The Blazers are 47-18 at home against the Mavs in the regular season and 8-1 in the postseason. Jason Terry had 13 points in a reserve role for Dallas, which got 12 points and 11 rebounds from Shawn Marion.

Final Score: Memphis 91, San Antonio 88

Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Zach Randolph scored 25 points, including a key three-pointer in the final minute, and Memphis held on for a 91-88 victory over San Antonio to take a 2-1 lead in the first-round playoff series. The Spurs had about six seconds left to set up a final shot, but Manu Ginobili dribbled into a pair of defenders on the right side and got stuck as time ran out. The Grizzlies earned their first-ever postseason win at home and will look to take a commanding lead in Game 4 on Monday. Marc Gasol added 17 points, Mike Conley scored 14 and Memphis was able to hold off a comeback attempt by San Antonio after leading by as many as 15 points in the second quarter and by double-digits for most of the third. Ginobili led the Spurs with 23 points in his second game back after missing Game 1 with a right elbow sprain. Tony Parker added 16 and Tim Duncan scored 13 with 11 rebounds, but San Antonio never led after 12-11 despite clawing back in the second half.

Final Score: Oklahoma City 97, Denver 94

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Kevin Durant scored 26 points, Russell Westbrook had 23 and the Oklahoma City Thunder held on for a 97-94 victory over Denver to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the first-round playoff series. J.R. Smith hit back-to-back three-pointers in the final 23.3 seconds to pull the Nuggets within a point, but he airballed another long try at the buzzer with James Harden guarding him close. The Nuggets were hoping a change of scenery to their home court would sway momentum in their favor. Instead, they will be faced with an historically daunting task beginning with Monday's Game 4 in Denver. No team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit to win an NBA playoff series, and few have even been able to force a Game 7.
