Wizards make a stop in Milwaukee
Dec 30, 2011 - 3:54 PM (Sports Network) - A Washington Wizards team in search of its first win this season visits Milwaukee tonight. The Wizards opened a quick two-game road trip in Atlanta on Wednesday in losing fashion, falling 101-83 to the Hawks. Nick Young scored a game-high 21 off the bench and second-year standout John Wall scored 20 and dished out six assists for Washington, who have dropped two straight to begin the season.
JaVale McGee had a double-double for the Wizards, who have dropped seven straight in Atlanta, with 15 points and 12 boards.
The Wizards led by as many as 21 points during their season opener on Monday against New Jersey before coughing it up and losing 90-84. Wednesday?s affair was quite different, however, as Washington fell behind 19-4 early and was never able to recover.
"It was a slow start, but I thought our second unit came in and played well," said Wizards head coach Flip Saunders. "They really got us back in the game at different times. That main unit is not performing well together, but I thought overall we competed."
The Bucks, meanwhile, evened their early season record at 1-1 by holding off Minnesota, 98-95, in their home opener on Tuesday. Brandon Jennings scored 24 points and dished out seven assists in that one.
Andrew Bogut added 15 points and pulled down nine rebounds before fouling out. Stephen Jackson contributed 16 points and Jon Leuer, a Minnesota native, chipped in 14 off the bench for the Bucks, who won their home opener after to falling to Charlotte on Monday.
"We had to bounce back," Leuer said. "We were able to do just enough to get the job done."
Forward Drew Gooden missed the game after being suspended without pay for a flagrant foul in Monday's game with the Bobcats. He is expected to return to the lineup tonight.
The Bucks have won four of their past five meetings with Washington. The Wizards have dropped eight of 11 contests at the Bradley Center.
