Heat rout Bobcats to remain undefeated

Jan 2, 2012 - 2:49 AM Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Chris Bosh had 24 points and 10 rebounds, Dwyane Wade scored 22 and the Miami Heat set a franchise record with their fifth straight win to start the season after beating the Charlotte Bobcats 129-90 on Sunday.

The Heat moved to 5-0, surpassing the previous club record of 4-0 set in the 2004-05 season. They beat Charlotte for the second time in five games, also squeezing out a one-point victory Wednesday on Wade's short jumper with 2.9 seconds left.

LeBron James, Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole each scored 16 in this one as Miami started a three-game homestand on a winning note.

D.J. White had 21 points to lead the Bobcats in their first road game of the season and Kemba Walker added 17. Charlotte has lost three in a row since opening the season with a win over Milwaukee.

Miami led by as many as 46 points in the game and was hot from all over while shooting 60 percent from the floor, including 7-of-11 (63.6 percent) from three-point range.

"When a team shoots 60 percent against you," said Bobcats coach Paul Silas, "you're not going to do very well."

None of the five Heat starters played 30 minutes and all of them, including Joel Anthony, shot better than 50 percent. Bosh was 9-of-13 from the field, including 4-for-7 in the first quarter as Miami built a 33-15 lead.

Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra said he was encouraged by his team's ability to concentrate even after the lead ballooned above 30 points in the second half.

"We wanted to just continue focusing on our game. I thought we did that," said Spoelstra. "It was a good win, it was a professional win and now we just have to move on."

The Heat had a 20-point lead less than 10 minutes into the game on a Chalmers three that made it 29-9. They shot 50 percent in the first quarter for their 18-point lead and were ahead by as many as 28 points in the second, when Bosh hit all four of his shots and had 11 points.

Miami's lead was 65-37 at halftime and climbed as high as 35 points twice early in the third quarter. It reached 46 on Terrel Harris' layup to make it 115-69 with five minutes left in the game.

The Bobcats shot just 38 percent for the game.

"We're not athletic and talented enough to not make shots and stay in games, especially against a team like this," said Silas.

Miami beat reigning NBA champion Dallas, Boston and Minnesota in its other three games this season...The Heat's homestand also includes visits from Atlanta and Indiana.
