Wizards and Celtics finish home-and-home set in Beantown

Jan 2, 2012 - 3:49 PM (Sports Network) - The Boston Celtics were able to get off the schneid last week, but the Washington Wizards haven't been able to exit the loss column yet this season.

The two Eastern Conference inhabitants will square off tonight at TD Garden in the back end of a home-and-home series.

Boston opened the year with three straight losses before rebounding with consecutive wins, including a 94-86 victory over the Wizards on New Year's Day. Rajon Rondo recorded a triple-double with 18 points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds to keep the Wizards winless after four games this season.

Kevin Garnett totaled 24 points and nine boards, while Ray Allen scored 13 for the victors.

"They call him the golden child, he fills every category up," Garnett said of Rondo. "His influence on the game is so special. He makes it easier for the other guys out there."

Celtics center Jermaine O'Neal left the game with a hamstring issue and could miss Monday's game. The Celtics will open a five-game homestand tonight.

Wizards second-year guard John Wall is much like Rondo and had 19 points to lead the Wizards, while Nick Young scored 18 points and JaVale McGee ended with 16 points and 14 boards.

"He can score in various ways, but most of his shots are layups or tricky shots," Wall said of his counterpart Rondo. "He penetrates and knows the spots to get to."

Wall and the Wizards are 0-2 on the road this season and will also visit Orlando on its upcoming trek. They will then return to D.C. for a three-game residency. The last time the Wizards lost five in a row to begin a season was 2008-09 (0-5 start).

Boston has won nine of the last 12 meetings with Washington, which has dropped 10 of its last 15 trips to Beantown.
