Nuggets finish tough stretch against Bucks
Jan 2, 2012 - 3:52 PM (Sports Network) - A well-rested Bucks team arrives in the Rockies to meet a Denver club in the midst of a torturous back-to-back-to-back portion of its schedule.Milwaukee, which kicks off a five-game road trip tonight, had the weekend off after Brandon Jennings scored 22 points, and the Bucks used a strong fourth quarter to record a 102-81 rout of the Wizards on Friday.
Andrew Bogut ended with 13 points and 15 rebounds for the Bucks, who outscored the Wizards by a 24-14 margin over the final 12 minutes. The effort came after Milwaukee scored just 13 points in the third quarter.
The Bucks, who got 16 points from Ersan Ilyasova and 15 from Carlos Delfino off the bench, will also visit Utah, Sacramento, Los Angeles and Phoenix on their trek.
"I thought the lineup looked a little fatigued out there, the ball movement was stopping," said Bucks head coach Scott Skiles. "We had some trouble on the defensive end as well, but for the most part our defense was pretty solid tonight."
The Nuggets, meanwhile, salvaged the back end of a home-and-home set with the Lakers on New Year's Day when Danilo Gallinari scored 20 points and came up with five steals as Denver dominated late to beat Los Angeles, 99-90.
One night after losing 92-89 at Staples Center, the Nuggets scored the final 11 points to beat the Lakers. Andre Miller tied the game with a jumper and Gallinari put his team ahead with a dunk with just over two minutes remaining.
"That's what we want to do, we want to run every time," Gallinari said of his team's transition. "In the fourth quarter, especially, when teams are really tired we don't want to be tired. We want to run and that's what we did in the fourth quarter."
Ty Lawson added 17 points and 10 assists for Denver, while Chris Andersen had 12 points and nine rebounds.
Denver swept the home-and-home season series with Milwaukee in 2010-11, repaying the Bucks for an '09-10 sweep.
