Jazz try again for first road win at Golden State

Jan 7, 2012 - 4:04 PM (Sports Network) - The Utah Jazz are still searching for their first road win of the season and will take on the Golden State Warriors tonight at Oracle Arena.

Utah is 0-3 away from Salt Lake City this season, but has won three straight and four of five games overall, including Friday's 94-85 win over the Memphis Grizzlies in the finale of a perfect three-game homestand. Al Jefferson scored 20 points and pulled down nine rebounds, while Paul Millsap added 14 points and eight boards to help the Jazz improve to 4-0 at home this season.

"On the road if we'd have gotten down like that (in the third quarter), we'd have just given up," said Jefferson. "But tonight we didn't. We just kept playing hard."

Josh Howard scored 13 points in a winning effort. The Jazz, who got 41 points from their reserves, forced Memphis to make 20 turnovers and also blocked 10 shots on the night.

Golden State looks to put the brakes on a four-game losing streak tonight and just dropped all three tests of a recent road trip. It is coming off last night's 97-90 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, as Monta Ellis recorded 18 points and 10 assists.

David Lee chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Warriors, who saw Kobe Bryant register another 30-point effort with 39 on the night.

"We fought hard," Lee said. "Kobe had a good game tonight. He's the only guy that killed us statistically."

The Warriors will begin a three-game homestand tonight versus the Jazz, Heat and Magic, and are 2-2 in Oakland this season. Guard Stephen Curry (ankle) did not play against the Lakers and is uncertain for tonight. The young guard is averaging 15.2 points and 5.6 assists this season.

Utah and Golden State are meeting for the first time since the Warriors took three of four matchups a season ago. The Jazz have dropped two straight contests at Oracle Arena.

Ellis averaged 19.0 points, 4.8 assists and 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals in four games against the Jazz last season.
