Kings try to solve road woes in Toronto
Jan 11, 2012 - 3:51 PM (Sports Network) - The Sacramento Kings try to bounce back from an awful showing this evening when they take another crack at securing their first road win of the season against the Toronto Raptors at Air Canada Centre.Sacramento fell to 0-4 away from home on Tuesday with a miserable performance in Philadelphia that saw the Kings drop a 112-85 decision.
DeMarcus Cousins had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Kings, who have lost four of five overall. They shot just 39.5 percent from the floor and a putrid 4-of-19 from beyond the arc.
Former BYU star Jimmer Fredette scored seven points and made his first NBA start in the loss in place of leading scorer Marcus Thornton, who may miss tonight's game as well with a thigh injury.
"We didn't have our regular rotation so the other guys had to make adjustments," Kings coach Keith Smart said.
Things don't figure to get any easier for the Kings tonight, as they head to Toronto, where they have lost seven straight since beating the Raptors back on Feb. 22, 2004.
Toronto, meanwhile, comes into tonight's tilt on a losing note as well after falling to the previous winless Washington Wizards, 93-78, on Tuesday. Andrea Bargnani scored 22 points to lead the Raptors, who missed 16 of 20 three-point attempts and committed a season-high 23 turnovers.
"Our disposition wasn't good coming out of the locker room to begin the game," said Toronto coach Dwane Casey. "You start turning the ball over and you can't recover from that and you can't get set up in your defense."
Tonight's contest will be the third in three nights for the Raptors, who have split the first two legs, but have dropped three of four overall.
Toronto has won four of six and six of its last nine meetings with the Kings.
