Bucks' Skiles aims for 400th win with Pistons in town

Jan 12, 2012 - 3:46 PM (Sports Network) - Milwaukee coach Scott Skiles will shoot for his 400th win as an NBA coach on Thursday when his Bucks play host to Central Division-rival Detroit.

After a 106-103 victory over San Antonio on Tuesday, Skiles is set to become just the 39th coach in league history to reach the 400-win plateau.

The Bucks have been a different team at the Bradley Center this season, averaging 102.0 points per game on 48.8 percent shooting en route to an early 3-0 mark. Conversely Milwaukee is a dismal 0-6 as the visitor and averaging just 88.8 points on 40.3 percent shooting.

The Bucks snapped a five-game skid against the Spurs when Stephen Jackson finished with 34 points and assisted on Brandon Jennings' key basket in the final minute, as the Bucks held on for the win in Andrew Bogut's return to the lineup.

Jackson had eight assists while Jennings totaled 11, along with 15 points. Bogut had missed the last four games because of personal issues, but returned to post 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The Spurs made 60 percent of their shots, but Richard Jefferson missed a potential game-tying three in the final moments.

"They kept it close," Jennings said of the Spurs. "They had a good look at a shot, he just missed it. The great thing is we didn't go into overtime with those guys."

The trend of starting strong at home is nothing new for the Bucks, who began the 2007-08 season with six straight home wins and opened the 2009-10 campaign with a 4-0 mark at the BC.

The Pistons, meanwhile, are mired in a five-game slide after Tuesday's setback against Dallas. Will Bynum had 20 points in that one to lead Detroit, which fell to 2-8 on the season.

Rookie Brandon Knight finished 4-of-4 from beyond the arc and finished with 12 points while Ben Gordon chipped in 11 points for the Pistons, who continued to play without key contributors Rodney Stuckey (strained left groin) and Charlie Villanueva (sprained right ankle).

"We were outplayed tonight," Pistons head coach Lawrence Frank said. "But in this league every night you're going against a quality opponent. The other team wants to win too, and Dallas played, obviously, a whole lot better than we did."

Stuckey is doubtful and Villanueva is listed as questionable for tonight.

Detroit took three of four games from the Bucks last season and has won five of seven overall in the series.
