Kings continue trek in Houston

Jan 13, 2012 - 3:48 PM (Sports Network) - Coming off of their first road win of the season, the Sacramento Kings look to make it two in a row when they resume a five-game swing tonight against the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center.

The Kings had dropped their first four away games this season until posting a 98-91 victory at Toronto on Wednesday behind a fourth straight double-double by DeMarcus Cousins, who ended with 21 points and a career-high 19 rebounds.

"I'm out there just grabbing balls," said Cousins, who is averaging 18.3 points and 13.5 rebounds in his last four games.

Tyreke Evans was a perfect 14-of-14 from the free-throw line and finished with 29 points for the Kings, who ended a two game slide and won for the second in six tries. Sacramento used a 9-1 run to turn a 69-66 deficit into a 75-70 lead with 8:04 left in the fourth quarter, and put the game way from the foul line.

The Kings evened their road trip at 1-1 and also received 10 points from rookie Jimmer Fredette. Fredette started his second straight games in place of injured guard Marcus Thornton, who's dealing with a thigh contusion and is questionable for tonight.

Evans is averaging 24.5 points in the last four games and has tallied 25 or more points in three of those contests. Sacramento will also visit the Mavericks and Timberwolves on the trek.

Houston just split a quick two-game road in Charlotte and San Antonio, and will play two straight and nine of the next 11 games in Space City. In a 101-95 overtime loss against the Spurs on Wednesday, Kyle Lowry did all he could with 22 points, seven assists and six rebounds for the Rockets, who lost for the fifth time in six tries.

Luis Scola and Kevin Martin added 20 and 18 points, respectively, in defeat.

"They're a great defensive team, we just missed some shots," Lowry said of the Southwest Division-rival Spurs.

The Rockets hope to improve on their 2-1 home record tonight and guard Courtney Lee (calf) is listed as questionable versus Sacramento.

Houston and Sacramento will play the first of three meetings tonight, and the Rockets took three of four matchups a season ago. The Rockets have won four of five and 10 of the past 14 meetings with the Kings, losers in seven of their last nine trips to the Toyota Center.
