Lee leads Warriors past Cavs

Jan 18, 2012 - 4:17 AM Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - David Lee had 29 points and nine rebounds, leading the Warriors to a 105-95 win over the Cavaliers on Tuesday.

Nate Robinson added 17 points and 10 assists for the Warriors, winners of two straight. Brandon Rush and Klay Thompson finished with 14 points apiece.

Antawn Jamison had a team-high 19 points for the Cavs, who were returning from a seven-game road trip. Kyrie Irving chipped in 18 and Semih Erden had 14.

The Warriors trailed 87-85 with nine minutes remaining, but Lee scored the game's next seven points to put his team on top for good. He did it in varied fashion, scoring in close, nailing a pair of jumpers and draining a foul shot for a 92-87 advantage.

Irving ended the run with a short jumper, but the Warriors outscored the Cavs 13-8 down the stretch -- led by six points from Lee -- to pull away for the win.

"That's what the good teams do, in spite of adversity find a way to get it done," said Warriors coach Mark Jackson. "Our guys did exactly that. When you compete and defend you will win your share of games in this league."

Cleveland, which went 3-4 on its recent trek, was playing its first game at Quicken Loans Arena since January 3 and struggled to re-acclimate itself.

The Warriors reeled off a 15-3 run to take a 54-42 lead three minutes before half. The Cavs responded with an 8-1 burst, capped by Irving's buzzer-beating layup, to make it 55-50 at the break.

They temporarily carried the momentum into the third, using an 11-0 run to take a 67-62 lead on Anderson Varejao's fastbreak finish with 7 1/2 min left.

The Warriors, though, battled back to tie the game at 74 and led, 81-79 after three.

"We were getting great shots on the offensive end until the final five minutes or so, they just weren't falling," said Irving.

Game Notes

Lee has scored at least 20 points in five straight games...The Warriors picked up their first road win of the season at Detroit on Sunday and have won two straight away from home for the first time since November 8-10, 2010...Golden State guard Monta Ellis took a hard elbow to the nose from Varejao in the game's closing second. He lay prone on the baseline for an extended period before being assisted off the court.
