Nets play host to Bobcats
Jan 22, 2012 - 4:00 PM (Sports Network) - Two of the worst teams the Eastern Conference has to offer get together tonight at the Prudential Center, where the New Jersey Nets will host the Charlotte Bobcats. The Bobcats will close out a three-game road trip tonight and have lost three straight and nine of their last 10 games. They fell to 0-2 on the trek with Saturday's 95-89 loss at Chicago, as Gerald Henderson had 22 points and nine rebounds to lead Charlotte.
"Somehow we just didn't have the right attitude tonight," Bobcats head coach Paul Silas said. "It just puzzled me because we had three days off. I thought would come out with a lot of energy and intensity tonight, but we just didn't have it."
Byron Mullens added 17 points and Cory Higgins netted 10 off of the bench for the Bobcats, who are winless in five straight road games and own a 1-7 record as the visitor this season. Bobcats forward D.J. White left the game with a knee bruise and is day-to-day.
New Jersey will close out a three-game homestand tonight before embarking on a three-game road trip through Chicago, Philadelphia and Cleveland. It is 1-1 so far on the residency and dropped an 84-74 decision versus Oklahoma City on Saturday, getting 14 points apiece from MarShon Brooks and Deron Williams.
"That's a good team we played over there," said Williams. "They've only lost a couple of games this season. I thought we played pretty well, just a rough start that we couldn't get over."
Jordan Farmar scored 13 points in a reserve role and Kris Humphries posted a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds in New Jersey's sixth loss in its last eight tries. The Nets are only 1-5 at home this season.
The Nets lost three of four meetings with Charlotte last season and is winless in the past three matchups as the host in this series.
