Thunder invade Portland's Rose Garden
Feb 6, 2012 - 4:16 PM (Sports Network) - The West's best faces a tough test tonight as Oklahoma City resumes a five-game road trip against a Portland team that has been dominant in Rip City. The Thunder are an NBA-best 18-5 despite losing the opener of their trek in San Antonio on Saturday, a 107-96 setback. Kevin Durant had his fifth consecutive double-double in that one, scoring 22 points and ripping down 11 rebounds.
James Harden dropped in 19 points off the bench as Oklahoma City lost its fourth straight game in the Alamo City.
"It's a tough place to play at," said Thunder guard Russell Westbrook about San Antonio. "They have the best home record in the league. We just didn't get off to the start we wanted to defensively."
Right behind the Spurs, who are a gaudy 13-1 at home, are the Blazers, who improved to 11-1 at the Rose Garden with a 117-97 rout of Denver on Saturday. Nicolas Batum returned from a brief two-game absence due to a balky knee to bury a franchise record nine three-pointers en route to a career-high 33 points against the Nuggets.
"All I could do today was shoot from the three-point line, that's it," Batum said.
LaMarcus Aldridge had 29 points and nine rebounds while Marcus Camby pulled down 20 boards for the Blazers, who have won five straight on their home floor.
"With us dropping some games on the road, [we need to] continue to try and defend home court, especially during this stretch of games," Portland coach Nate McMillan told the Blazers' website. "We've got some top teams coming in here and another division game coming up, so all games are important."
On the injury front for the Blazers, point guard Raymond Felton, who left Saturday's game with a sprained left foot, is questionable for tonight.
OKC, which leads Portland by 4 1/2 games in the Northwest Division, is 9-4 on the road this season and will finish its trek with visits to Golden State, Sacramento and Utah.
The Blazers have won two straight over the Thunder, including a 103-93 triumph on the road back on Jan. 3.
