Wolves hope to get healthy against visiting Bobcats

Feb 15, 2012 - 3:42 PM (Sports Network) - It's been a history-making year thus far for the Charlotte Bobcats. Unfortunately, it's not the type of records they'd like to be associated with.

Tonight, Charlotte attempts to snap their franchise-record 15-game losing streak when they visit the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center.

Charlotte's futility continued on Monday, as it was upended by the Philadelphia 76ers, 98-89.

Kemba Walker nearly carried the Bobcats to a comeback win by scoring 14 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter, but it ultimately came up short to drop Charlotte to a miserable 3-25 on the season.

"This is the NBA - Charlotte has players. They've just got injuries," Sixers head coach Doug Collins said. "It's no surprise (Bobcats owner) Michael Jordan would like (Walker) ... He has no fear."

Corey Maggette had a season-high 22 points, while backup center Byron Mullens ended with 13 points and nine rebounds for the Bobcats, who have not won since beating Golden State on January 14.

"He doesn't know it yet, but he is a big factor, Maggette said of Mullens. "He has to come with that intensity, that energy, every night."

Although the Hornets came up short, the effort was a bit encouraging since the team had lost by an average of 24.9 points through their previous six contests.

"It's a loss, but we played hard. We want to continue playing like that," Walker said. "If we can play like this tonight, there's no reason we can't play like this every night."

Tonight, the team is expected to get back guard D.J. Augustin, who has been out since January 22 with a toe injury. Gerald Henderson, though, is still sidelined with back and hamstring problems.

Minnesota, meanwhile, also comes into tonight's tilt riding a losing streak after falling to the Orlando Magic, 102-89, on Monday.

Kevin Love had 19 points and 15 rebounds for Minnesota, which has lost four straight. The Wolves turned the ball over 18 times, leading to 17 Magic points.

"They know how to play," Love said of the Magic. "We just have to step it up."
