76ers take on Bulls in south Philly

Mar 4, 2012 - 3:52 PM (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia 76ers were finally able to put together a 100-point performance their last time out, but those results could be shortlived with the Chicago Bulls set to invade Wells Fargo Center tonight.

On a night commemorating the 50-year anniversary of Wilt Chamberlain's 100 points scored for the Philadelphia Warriors against the New York Knicks, the Sixers posted a 105-83 demolition of the Golden State Warriors Friday in the second portion of a three-game homestand. Lou Williams scored 25 points and Elton Brand had 14 points and 14 rebounds for a Sixers team that has won two of three since losing a season-worst five in a row.

"It was good to see the ball go in the basket, I'll tell you that. In memory of Wilt we got 105 tonight, so that was good," Sixers coach Doug Collins said after his team halted a four-game slide at home.

Andre Iguodala contributed 12 points, 11 rebounds and six assists for Philadelphia, which bounced back from a 92-88 home loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday in the opener of the homestand. The 76ers are 14-7 in south Philly this season and still own the top spot in the Atlantic Division. Thaddeus Young ended with 16 points in a winning effort, and both he and Williams have given the Sixers a formidable 1-2 punch off the bench.

Of the Sixers' 22 wins, 18 have come by double digits. They have held the opposition below 90 points in seven of the past 11 games, but will face a Chicago team that has reached that mark in each of its past five.

The Central Division-leading Bulls will bring a five-game winning streak into tonight's matchup and recently handed the Cleveland Cavaliers a 112-91 setback on Friday in the second installment of a three-game road trip. Luol Deng posted a season-best 24 points and reigning MVP Derrick Rose chipped in 19 points, nine assists and three steals for the Bulls, who own the best record in the Eastern Conference at 30-8. The Bulls are the first team to reach 30 wins on the season and Cavs head coach Byron Scott talked about Rose's play.

"When you're coming down in transition, he's just one of those guys that has an unbelievable ability to get to the basket," Scott said of Rose.

Chicago improved to 16-6 on the road this season and is 16-0 on the road in 2011-12 when leading on the half. The Bulls are also 18-0 when keeping the opposition below 90 points and 14-0 when scoring 100-plus points.

The Bulls dropped a 98-82 decision in the City of Brotherly Love on Feb. 1 this season, as Iguodala filled the stat sheet with 19 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals. C.J. Watson netted a game-best 20 points for the Bulls and Rose finished with 18 points. Philadelphia has won three in a row in this series and two straight at home.

These two teams will meet again March 17 in the Windy City.
