Bobcats finish homestand against Nets

Mar 9, 2012 - 3:55 PM (Sports Network) - The New Jersey Nets try to make it two straight wins this evening at Time Warner Cable Arena when they play the Charlotte Bobcats for the second time a week.

Following an ugly loss to Miami on Tuesday, the Nets rebounded nicely on Wednesday, as Jordan Farmar's three-pointer with less than a second remaining lifted New Jersey to a thrilling 101-100 win over the Los Angeles Clippers.

"I would have been hurt if it went out," Farmar said. "I just wanted to make the shot, it was such a close game."

Farmar finished with 16 points while Williams had 21 points, 10 assists and six rebounds for the Nets, who have won two of the last three and are 5-5 over their last 10.

"We were just trying to make it hard for Blake Griffin to make his moves," Williams said. "A lot of people back out of the way because he's a highlight reel. I try to stay between him and the basket."

The Nets, who return home for three games after tonight's tilt, are 9-14 away from home this season.

Charlotte, meanwhile, enters tonight's tilt having dropped six of its last seven following a 99-93 loss to Utah on Wednesday.

The Bobcats led by Corey Maggette's 25 points. Kemba Walker added 19 points and fellow reserve Byron Mullens netted 16 in defeat.

On Tuesday, the Bobcats rallied from 20 down to beat the Magic for just their fifth win of the season. A second straight comeback was not in the cards, as they trailed by double digits through most of the fourth quarter and scored the last seven points to make the score appear closer than it really was.

"We're turning things around," said Mullens, putting a positive spin on the loss. "Instead of losing by 30 or 40 points a game, we're losing by three or six...We'll get there."

New Jersey has beaten the Bobcats twice this season, including a 104-101 victory over them on Sunday. The Nets have also won five of seven in Charlotte.
