Reeling Blazers resume lengthy road trip in Washington

Mar 10, 2012 - 3:37 PM (Sports Network) - The Washington Wizards hope to build on one of their most impressive wins of the season when they welcome Portland to the nation's capital.

Trevor Booker grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds to go with 18 points as the Wizards roared back from a 21-point second half deficit on Wednesday to stun the Lakers, 106-101.

Nick Young's 19 points led a balanced Washington attack that saw six players score in double figures. Jordan Crawford netted 14 points, Kevin Seraphin's 14 set a career-high, and Roger Mason Jr. had 14 on 4-of-7 three-point shooting, including the go-ahead trey that completed the comeback.

JaVale McGee rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points and added 12 boards for the Wizards, who snapped a nine-game losing streak against Los Angeles.

Washington last defeated the Lakers on December 17, 2006.

"This team has some persistence in it," said Mason. "It think it's a great sign that we were able to come back like that, keep working, keep working and finally we broke through."

The Blazers, meanwhile, fell to 0-2 on a grueling season-high, seven-game road trip in Boston on Friday, getting routed by the Celtics 104-86.

LaMarcus Aldridge paced the Trail Blazers, losers in five of six overall, with 22 points. Wes Matthews and Luke Babbitt were the only other Portland players in double figures with 10 apiece.

Boston, which fell 103-71 to the 76ers on Wednesday, led by as many as 43 against the Blazers, who are now two games behind Houston for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

"That's an unprofessional approach," said a disgruntled Portland coach Nate McMillan. "There was no basketball being played out there tonight.

The Trail Blazers have lost four straight on the road and are 5-14 away from Rip City on the season. They will finish their trek with visits to Indiana, New York, Chicago and Oklahoma City.

The Wizards recorded one of their three road wins in Portland last month, a 124-109 win back on Feb. 14.
