Mavs finish tough stretch vs. Golden State

Mar 10, 2012 - 3:44 PM (Sports Network) - The reigning NBA champion Dallas Mavericks will finish a tough three games in three nights stretch Saturday night in Oakland against the Golden State Warriors.

The reeling Mavs have already dropped the first two legs of the back-to-back- to-back, losing in Phoenix on Thursday and following that up with a 110-97 setback to Sacramento on Friday, their first loss to the Kings in 11 tries.

Jason Terry had 23 points for the Mavericks, who hadn't lost to Sacramento since Jan. 11, 2009. Dirk Nowitzki ended with 13 points and nine rebounds. Shawn Marion scored 14 and Ian Mahinmi 12 in defeat, the sixth in a row on the road for the Mavs.

"We just can't win a close one anymore," said Nowitzki. "Either we don't get the stops or when we get the stop, we can't get the big basket. Hopefully at some point we're going to flip that switch and we're going to start winning those close games again."

The Mavs are now 8-11 overall as the visitor and the club is in the midst of its longest road losing streak since an eight-game hiccup from Nov. 7-30, 1999.

Dallas starting center Brendan Haywood missed his third straight game against the Kings with a sprained ankle and remains day-to-day.

The Warriors, meanwhile, lost for the third time in four games on Wednesday, a 110-92 setback to Memphis.

Monta Ellis and Klay Thompson scored 16 apiece to pace Golden State, which fell to 9-10 on its home floor.

"They started off great, we fought back in," said Warriors coach Mark Jackson when talking about the Grizz. "They are a very good basketball team. But when we come out ready to work and pay attention to the game plan and execute it, and are willing to make multiple effort plays I'll take my chances against them."

Golden State snapped a six-game skid to Dallas with a 99-92 win in Oakland last April.
