Warriors and Blazers clash at Rose Garden

Mar 25, 2012 - 2:41 PM (Sports Network) - A pair of teams on the outside, looking in at the Western Conference playoff picture meet in Rip City on Sunday when the Portland Trail Blazers play host to the Golden State Warriors.

The Blazers have lost 10 of 14 since the All-Star break with the latest setback coming Friday in Los Angeles. Ramon Sessions had 20 points and 11 assists in that one to lead the Lakers to a 103-96 victory.

LaMarcus Aldridge poured in a game-high 29 points to go with nine rebounds, while Wesley Matthews netted 16 points and J.J. Hickson, who was waived by Sacramento on March 20 and claimed by Portland the next day, chipped in 14 points in his first action as a Trail Blazer.

"They are a good basketball team," Portland interim head coach Kaleb Canales said about the Lakers. "Sessions made a big basket down the stretch. We just came up a little short."

The Blazers are 2-3 since Canales took over for the fired Nate McMillan.

The Warriors, meanwhile, won for the second time in three games on Saturday, topping Sacramento, 111-108, in Oakland. Rookie Klay Thompson scored a career- high 31 and David Lee added 22 points and 14 rebounds as Golden State hung on in that one.

Lee scored the eventual game-winner with 1:23 left and Richard Jefferson's dunk sealed the final result after Sacramento guard Isaiah Thomas dribbled the ball out of bounds with 4.7 seconds remaining.

Brandon Rush added 11 points for the Warriors, who had lost five of six entering Saturday.

"He understands how to play and it's scary to think that he's only going to get better," Warriors head coach Mark Jackson said about Thompson.

Portland snapped a four-game skid to Golden State with a 93-91 win in Oakland on Feb. 15.
