Pacers resume playoff push in New Jersey
Mar 28, 2012 - 2:54 PM (Sports Network) - Indiana will continue its push to the postseason in the Garden State on Wednesday when the Pacers pay a visit to the lowly New Jersey Nets.Indiana has dominated the Nets recently and will be shooting for a four-game season sweep tonight as well as its 11th consecutive win overall in the series.
Danny Granger drained 3-of-5 three-point attempts en route to 25 points on Monday as the Pacers used precision shooting from beyond the arc to stun the Heat, 105-90, in Indy.
Paul George scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, David West finished with 10 points and 12 boards and Darren Collison netted 20 points for Indiana, which has won four of five overall and currently holds down the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.
The Pacers knocked down 10 treys on 18 attempts to avoid a season sweep at the hands of Miami. They also ended a five-game losing streak to the Heat.
The Nets, meanwhile, weren't able to take advantage of a fatigued Utah team on Monday, falling to the Jazz 105-84 at the Prudential Center. In fact, Utah didn't look tired in the least after a four-overtime loss in Atlanta the day before.
Playing against his former club for the first time in New Jersey, Deron Williams netted 17 points, but was just 7-of-21 from the floor. He also dished out 11 assists.
Gerald Green scored 20 points to lead New Jersey, which has dropped six of its last seven contests overall.
"They're a good team, a playoff team," Williams said of the Jazz. "They did a good job of getting re-focused and blowing it open."
The banged-up Nets continue to play without center Brook Lopez (sprained right ankle) as well as guards Jordan Farmar and Anthony Morrow. Farmar is on the shelf until at least April 5 with a sore right groin while Morrow has been listed as day-to-day with a bruised right shoulder.
