Jazz attempt to bounce back vs. Warriors

Apr 6, 2012 - 2:52 PM (Sports Network) - The reeling Utah Jazz hope to get back on track in the Western Conference playoff race when they welcome the Golden State Warriors to Salt Lake City.

The Jazz have dropped five of seven games to fall to the 10th spot in the West, 1 1/2 games behind Denver for the final postseason slot in the conference.

The latest setback was a heartbreaker on Wednesday when Steve Nash's jumper with 1.7 seconds left on the clock gave the Phoenix Suns a 107-105 victory.

Utah appeared to tie the game as Paul Millsap finished a putback off a C.J. Miles missed three-pointer at the buzzer, but video replay showed the ball was still in Millsap's hands as the red light illuminated behind the backboard.

Millsap led all scorers with 25 points to go with eight rebounds and six assists. Miles finished with 22 points and Gordon Hayward recorded a double- double with 20 points and a career-high 10 rebounds for the Jazz.

"The first quarter we came out and weren't as aggressive as I thought we would be," said Jazz head coach Tyrone Corbin. "We can't wait to get ourselves going. We have to be ready."

Jazz point guard Devin Harris missed the contest after he suffered a left ankle sprain in the first half against the Blazers on Monday. The Wisconsin product remains questionable for tonight.

Golden State, meanwhile, snapped a season-high six-game skid on Wednesday when rookie Charles Jenkins charged through the paint and flipped in a nifty reverse layup with 20.4 seconds remaining to help the Warriors edge Minnesota, 97-94.

David Lee scored a game-high 31 points and Jenkins finished with 19 for Golden State, which has won seven of its last nine meetings against the Timberwolves.

"It says a lot about who we are. We're going to battle, we're going to compete," said Warriors head coach Mark Jackson. "This is a big time bounce- back win. Our offense was clicking, on defense we were clicking. Great individual and collective effort."

Golden State has lost nine of their last 11 at Utah and is 0-7 in games played on Friday this season.
