Bobcats aim for rare win vs. Kings

Apr 22, 2012 - 2:49 PM (Sports Network) - If the Charlotte Bobcats hope to avoid a rather humiliating fate, they may want to get it done on Sunday when the lowly Sacramento Kings visit the Queen City.

The Bobcats are a dismal 7-55 on the season and if they fail to win any of their remaining four games, the club will finish with a .106 winning percentage, the worst in NBA history. The infamous 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers finished with the worst record in NBA history (9-73) for a winning percentage of .110.

The Bobcats lost their franchise-record 19th straight on Friday, falling to Memphis, 85-80. Gerald Henderson tied a career-high with 32 points in that one while Byron Mullens tallied 11 points and 11 boards.

"[Henderson] took it upon himself to have a great game tonight. That's really what kept us alive," Bobcats head coach Paul Silas said.

Charlotte's current skid is the NBA's worst since Cleveland dropped 26 in a row from Dec. 20, 2010-Feb. 9, 2011. The Bobcats have lost 12 in a row at home.

The Kings, meanwhile, are in danger of finishing with the worst record in the Western Conference and are coming off their ninth loss in 10 games, a 103-92 setback to Oklahoma City on Friday.

DeMarcus Cousins led the way for Sacramento in that one with 18 points and Tyreke Evans contributed 16 as the Kings fell into a tie with New Orleans in the West basement.

"Our team is still a team that's on the move. We're going to have situations like this. We're not there yet, not a finished product. But when we get to be a finished product, we're going to be a special basketball team," said Kings head coach Keith Smart.

The Kings are just 1-6 all-time in Charlotte against the Bobcats and have a 5-26 road record this season. Charlotte, meanwhile, has NBA's worst home record at 4-27.
