Pacers resume trek against Warriors
Dec 1, 2012 - 4:58 PM (Sports Network) - The Indiana Pacers continue their western trip on Saturday night when they invade Oracle Arena for a matchup with the Golden State Warriors. The Pacers have won four of their last five games and have beaten the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings so far on this four-game trek. After squeezing out a two-point victory in L.A., Indiana handed the Kings a 97-92 setback Friday night from Sleep Train Arena.
David West scored a season-best 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while George Hill tallied 25 points, eight assists and six rebounds. West was instrumental in the win over the Lakers with 16 points, 10 boards and eight assists, just missing his first career triple-double.
"These last two wins our team has really followed the game plan literally in a couple of regards and it's paid off with two big road wins," Pacers coach Frank Vogel said.
Indiana will close out the road trip Tuesday at Chicago and sits ahead of the Bulls for the Central Division lead.
The Warriors are winners of two straight and four of their last five. This current streak came at home, highlighted by a 106-105 nail-biter over the Denver Nuggets.
Denver's Andre Iguodala nailed a 3-pointer that would've won the game, but the horn sounded before Iguodala got the shot off. It was the first time Golden State beat the Nuggets in three tries this season.
"I was very confident that it didn't count, but I didn't know what the results were going to be," said Warriors head coach Mark Jackson. "That's a very good basketball team and a well coached basketball team. We fully understood that it wasn't going to be easy."
The Nuggets built a 16-point lead, but the Warriors held Denver to 19 points in the fourth quarter. David Lee led the way with 31 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry had 21 and 20 points, respectively, but both played over 42 minutes.
The Warriors haven't been over .500 this deep into a season since the 2007-08 campaign and lost both matchups with Indiana last season.
Indiana is 10-5 in the past 15 meetings with Golden State.
