Pacers make stop at home to battle Jazz

Dec 19, 2012 - 3:35 PM (Sports Network) - The Indiana Pacers make a brief return home to Bankers Life Fieldhouse Wednesday night to host the Utah Jazz.

The Pacers played their last two on the road, including a 98-83 loss on Tuesday to the Central Division-rival Milwaukee Bucks. Indiana heads back out for two away from home on Friday and Saturday.

Turnovers were the story in Milwaukee on Tuesday. The Pacers committed 20 turnovers, their most in 13 games, which led to 20 Bucks points. Nine of the 20 miscues came in the first half and the Bucks translated those into 15 points.

"Tough loss for our guys. We competed our tails off," said Pacers coach Frank Vogel. "We had a tough night shooting the basketball. We turned the ball over too much."

George Hill paced the Pacers with 18 points, while Paul George netted 16 and grabbed 10 boards. Indiana only shot 25 percent from the 3-point line, but in its defense, it only attempted eight long-distance shots.

The Pacers welcome the Jazz on Wednesday and Utah has lost two its last three in Indianapolis.

The Jazz got a great road win on Tuesday night when they came from behind to best the Brooklyn Nets, 92-90. Utah trailed by as many as 13, but won the second half, 48-33.

"We did a lot of great things in the second half," Mo Williams said. "We had to dig down deep."

Williams was the high-scorer for a Jazz team that featured five double-figure scorers. Williams had 19 while Al Jefferson posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards. Marvin Williams also had a double-double with 11 and 10 rebounds. Derrick Favors had Paul Millsap had 13 and 12 points, respectively.

It was a good night for Favors, who has battled injuries this season. He was drafted by the Nets with the third pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, but traded in 2011 for Deron Williams.

"It's over and done with now," Favors said of the trade. "I do not care. I felt more about it last year, but it is over with. You grow up and move on from it."

Tuesday's win was a great start to a four-game road trip and the road has not been kind to the Jazz this season. Utah is 5-10 away from Salt Lake City, but is 5-2 against the Eastern Conference.

These two teams have split their last 20 meetings.
