Walker leads Bobcats into meeting with Warriors

Dec 21, 2012 - 3:52 PM (Sports Network) - Kemba Walker insists that the Charlotte Bobcats still have confidence despite having not won in almost a month.

The free-falling Bobcats try to put an end to a 13-game losing streak on Friday night as they visit the Golden State Warriors.

Charlotte has not won since Nov. 24, a double-overtime victory against the Washington Wizards. That win was the seventh of the season for the Bobcats, matching their entire win total from last season when the franchise went just 7-59 and lost its final 23 games of the campaign to set an NBA record for the worst single-season winning percentage.

The Bobcats' skid hit a baker's dozen on Wednesday night, when the Phoenix Suns hit 17 3-pointers on the way to handing Charlotte a 121-104 loss.

Walker had a game-high 27 points, his third straight game with at least that many.

The Bobcats were coming off a one-point loss to the Los Angeles Lakers the previous night.

"We still feel pretty confident in ourselves. It's still a young season and we still have a lot of time," Walker said. "Right now we're losing, but I think good things are going to happen for us really soon."

Rookie Michael Kidd-Gilchrist matched a career high with 25 points and 12 boards, joining LeBron James as the only two players in NBA history to have a pair of 25-point, 12-rebound games before their 20th birthday. He won't turn 20 until next September.

The Warriors look to rebound on Friday following a 131-127 setback to the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night.

Stephen Curry had a season-high 32 points, but fouled out with 2:13 remaining and the game tied. Sacramento's John Salmons hit 1-of-2 from the line and Aaron Brooks followed for the Kings with a big 3-pointer to create the winning momentum.

"We are a team that can be beaten by the best and beaten by the worst. We have to play our brand of basketball in order to stay successful and when we don't, we can be disappointed," Warriors coach Mark Jackson said.

David Lee logged his career-high 10th straight 20-point game with 29 and Jarrett Jack added a season-high 28 points for the Warriors, who lost for just the third time in their last 13 games.

Golden State was hitting the road for the first time since wrapping up a 6-1 swing with a win at Atlanta last Saturday. The Warriors followed up with a home win over New Orleans on Tuesday and will play two straight and five of their next six as the host.

The Warriors' six-game road trip featured a victory in Charlotte on Dec. 10. Curry had 27 points, seven assists and seven rebounds in the 104-96 win, while Lee had 25 points and 11 boards.

Golden State never trailed in the game and snapped a two-game slide to Charlotte. The Warriors next try to snap a three-game home slide to the Bobcats and a victory tonight would give them their first season-series victory over Charlotte since the Bobcats' inaugural season in 2004-05.
