Lee and Curry help Warriors down Bobcats
Dec 22, 2012 - 7:48 AM Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Behind David Lee's triple-double and a career- high eight 3-pointers from Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors downed the Charlotte Bobcats, 115-100, on Friday.Lee posted 23 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists while Curry hit on 8-of-13 triples en route to 27 points for the Warriors, who bounced back after a loss to the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.
"He's been that good all year long," Golden State head coach Mark Jackson said of Lee. "Stef was again spectacular. Those are my leaders, and they are doing a great job of setting the tone."
In the victory, Lee scored at least 20 points for the 11th straight game, setting a new career high and Curry knocked down at least seven 3-pointers for the second consecutive contest.
"They're going to have presence all year long, and we're not the only ones that are going to struggle defending them," Charlotte head coach Mike Dunlap said of Lee and Curry.
Klay Thompson scored 20 points in the Warriors' 11th win in their last 14 games.
The Bobcats, now losers of 14 straight, received 23 points from Gerald Henderson and Bismack Biyombo posted 12 points and 14 rebounds in the setback.
Golden State took a 31-23 advantage into the second quarter, where it built a 14-point lead just under three minutes in following three straight buckets.
However, the Bobcats responded with a 9-0 surge to come within three at 39-36 and reduced the deficit to one less than two minutes later, as Kemba Walker knocked down one of his four triples to make it a 44-43 game.
But the Warriors finished the period strong with a 14-6 push, which Curry capped with a trey to give Golden State a 58-49 lead at the break.
Thompson buried a jumper to begin the third to give Golden State an 11-point edge. It maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the quarter and led by as many as 18 in the period.
Curry hit back-to-back triples just past the midway point in the fourth and Carl Landry threw down a dunk to give Golden State its biggest lead of the game at 21 with 3:38 left in the game.
Game Notes
The Warriors claimed their first season-series over the Bobcats since Charlotte's inaugural season in 2004-05 ... Charlotte had won the previous three meetings against the Warriors in the Golden State ... The Warriors shot 51.9 percent (14-of-27) from three-point range for the contest. It was the most 3-pointers they've made in a game this season.
