Wiz go for 5 in a row in Motown

Feb 13, 2013 - 3:59 PM (Sports Network) - Greg Monroe's back must be aching because he's been carrying the Detroit Pistons all season.

Monroe's young enough to handle the load and will get back to work Wednesday versus the Washington Wizards in the continuation of a three-game homestand at The Palace of Auburn Hills. He has posted seven straight double-doubles and recorded 17 points and 11 rebounds in a 105-86 defeat at the hands of the New Orleans Hornets Monday.

Rodney Stuckey had a team-high 19 points off the bench for the Pistons, who were outscored in every quarter and shot only 35.8 percent for the game. The Pistons also made just 5-of-19 3-pointers and had a two-game winning streak come to an end. They are just 2-4 in the past six contests.

"They played much harder than us, much tougher, more physical, more intense," Pistons coach Lawrence Frank said of the Hornets. "Outside of a few select segments, they really, really outworked us. It's very, very disappointing."

As for Monroe, he now has 24 double-doubles on the season and is averaging 20.0 points and 12.5 rebounds in the past four games.

The Pistons own a 14-15 record as the host this season and will close out the short homestand versus Memphis next Tuesday after the All-Star break.

Washington enters Wednesday's contest riding a season-high four-game winning streak and opened a quick trip with a 102-90 triumph at Milwaukee on Monday.

Rookie Bradley Beal posted a career-high 28 points in his second game back from a wrist injury, while John Wall had 14 points to go with 10 assists and Emeka Okafor tallied 12 points and 10 rebounds.

"My teammates did a great job finding me," Beal said after making 10-of-17 shots. "I was just so happy to be open tonight."

Nene had a double-double of his own, registering 21 points and 13 boards as the Wizards improved to 4-21 away from D.C. The Wizards, who shot a sizzling 56.8 percent, also halted a four-game road losing streak.

The Wizards haven't won five in a row since closing out last season's truncated schedule with six straight victories.

Washington has dropped both meetings with Detroit this season, losing a home- and-home series back on Dec. 21-22. The Pistons have won four in a row, 12 of 14 and 15 of the past 19 matchups with Washington, losers in two straight and 10 of the last 12 games at The Palace.

These two teams will meet again Feb. 27 in the nation's capital.
